Cultivate greener grass through yoga.

Life in the mountains always feels more expansive when the trails dry out, the aspens turn green, and the lake level rises. Summer months are sacred; the shift in the season generally inspires energetic uplift and optimism. Summer can also breed a lot of FOMO (fear of missing out). It can feel like you’re scrambling to keep up with what you see happening around you (social media, anyone?). This is a gentle reminder that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and comparing yourself to others can create a lot of suffering. We know from experience that the grass is greenest when you have your health and know thyself. That is what each of our studio classes have to offer you, physical well-being and the opportunity to observe the way your beautiful mind works. If you haven’t been to class in a while, consider this your invitation to cultivate greener grass through yoga.
how to cultivate greener grass through yoga

How can yoga help you realize that the green grass is and always has been on your side? Yoga teaches you to shine brightly through unclouded skies. This unobstructed clarity is honed through deep self-reflection and targeted discipline. Yoga doesn’t ask you to do 100 chaturanga push-ups or renounce modern life in order to meditate for 20 hours out of each day. All that yoga asks for is your commitment to self study. The fruits of this self study, or svadhyaya, will seep into all aspects of your life and create positive change all around you. As your light shines brighter and clearer, the grasses around you become bright, verdant, and healthy!

When you come to one of our studio classes, whether it is a fiery vinyasa flow or an introspective restorative session, we invite you to slow down by arriving fully into the present moment. By offering – and committing – your time and mental space to yoga, you welcome the contentment, peace, and inspiration that the practice builds. Practice moving and meditating with the intention of celebrating your life (the good and the bad!) in this very moment.

Tuning out the chatter in your mind telling you to “hurry up” or “be better” or “push harder” will make space for feeling joy and recognizing the abundance of what IS, not what COULD be. Focus on your grasses and they will get greener. Keep focusing on your green grass, and watch a full garden bloom. Keep practicing your yoga inside and out of the studio. There is no limit to how deep and far you can flourish.

We wish you many sunny, joyous months of adventuring. And, we hope to see you in the studio for some exceptional classes and events! Remember: “As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.” May our gardens continue to thrive alongside one another’s…and, let the seeds of your joy catch the wind and spread the same joy to the world around you.
