Namaste Thrive Tribe!
We have said it before, and we will say it again; Yoga Is Essential! “Normalcy” as we know it has been eradicated, common social gatherings are subtly forbidden, informal communication outlets have been tainted by divisive propaganda, and our sacred home spaces now serve as schools, offices, and home care facilities. Sure, we like staying home and the modern conveniences of grocery delivery and on-demand, online classes, but not at the expense of our well-being!
There are fewer opportunities to slow down, turn off your screen(s), unplug, and experience stillness of the mind. The mental pressures are translating into physical ailments where more and more Americans are suffering from anxiety and depression. We feel this is an obvious outcry for help and that is why our studios are less like fitness facilities and more like wellness sanctuaries.
The healing properties of yoga have existed for over 2,000 years and our mission is to stay true to these roots; not to be purist, but to remain profound. When you enter a Thrive Yoga Studio it is free of distraction, and is welcoming to all. For the sake of being relevant, nowadays when you practice at Thrive Yoga, there is no dog on your mat, washing machine beeping, or work email popping up over your instructor’s face!
In Thrive Yoga classes, our teachers aim to be like facilitators and educators and less like exercise instructors. We focus on how the practices of mindfulness, movement, and living yoga (yoga off of your mat) can solve larger global issues and provide large-scale solutions. We are creating a culture and lifestyle around conscious well-being. If we are doing our “jobs” correctly, then eventually we will shift the perception of yoga from a luxury part of self-care to a necessary part of mental health, physical well-being, and emotional prosperity.
Yoga has many benefits, the most important being that it reminds us that we are more alike than different; that we are all ONE. Thrive Yoga studios are spaces where all are encouraged to flourish as individuals as well as in community. Our studios focus on building; building up each other and building community. In fact, rebuilding is the primary theme in our world right now. We are building upon our strengths; conscious communication, strengthening the presence in our communities, focusing on the well-being of our staff, and going deeper in our personal practices so that we can continue to work on yoga as an essential component of the daily American lifestyle.
We are aware that we are potentially heading into a difficult season of managing COVID-19. This time around we are a little more prepared and even more committed to supporting our Thrive Tribe! Remember that “If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.” – Lao Tzu
Your yoga practice is, has been and always will be, essential.
With love and gratitude,
Brittany & the OM-azing Thrive Yoga Staff
